Review by The Glenlivet

« This review is also available in Dutch »
Colour

Bright and lively gold.

Nose

Exquisite delicacy of summer-like fragrances, with playful interlacing of floral and fruity aromas. A sensuous touch of exotic fruit, notably pineapple. It opens in time on creamier and richer notes of stewed greengages and ripe apricots. Oak tenderly enhances that enticing bouquet with more vanilla and nutty notes and an echo of toasted oats.

Palate

Honeyed floral notessahine through. A silky feel, flowing on the tongue. Smooth and sweet fruit notes of white peaches and pears poached in vanilla syrup.

Finish

Marzipan and fresh hazelnuts followed by a gentle spiciness of grated ginger.

Note

This whisky has been called a lot of things in its time: smooth, fruity, complex, sophisticated, entertaining, classic. The Original Malt Whisky Almanac says: A first-class malt. One of the most popular malts in the world deservedly so.

Representing The Glenlivets signature style, this classic malt is first matured in traditional oak, before spending time in American oak casks which impart notes of vanilla and gives the whisky its distinctive smoothness. The mineral-rich water that comes from Josies Well helps form the flavours during mashing and fermentation, whilst the specific height and width of the copper stills add a delicate yet complex character.
