Nose
Fresh, smoky, young, slightly malty, honey, vanilla, pear caramel, lemon blossoms, some tropical fruits. Water opens up creamy and woody notes, a hint of rosemary
Palate
Sweet, slightly malty and spicy, tropical fruits (lychees, physalis), cold ashes, vanilla pie, lemon zest, noticeable oaky
Finish
Quite long, sweet, somewhat nutty, ashy, with mushrooms notes, slightly oaky
Conclusion
Nice whisky, feeling quite young but superbly balanced and tasty. Quite smoky but smoke doesn’t dominate and very good integrated in overall impression. Tropical fruits notes, citruses - all those signs of bourbon maturation are beautifully present here. Does this expression worth its price - over 200 euros? I think not, but enormous overpricing is a common problem of all Japanese single malts nowadays
