Nose
Slightly sweet and dusty, tad malty. Very light smoke, cinnamon and cloves, ginger, raisins, baked apple, caramel, blood oranges, citrus peel, wet cardboard, solvent notes. Water opens up strong sherry notes: dried dark fruits, cane sugar, amplifies caramel
Palate
Spicy (peppers and ginger), slightly salty and bitter, industrial notes (motor oil, metal shavings), malt, walnut shell, lemon zest
Finish
Medium-long, slightly spicy and sweet, oak and malt and ash notes
Conclusion
Decent whisky, quite spicy and “heavy” making it a really winter dram. Quite closed without dilution but getting vivid sherry character with water. Rather enjoyable expression despite “dirty” notes in the nose. Although there is nothing really outstanding in this expression, it’s very expensive as for 17-year-old of this quality and this amount (28 000) bottled. Even a fancy packaging cannot be an excuse.
