Nose

Feeling young, perfumery, sweet, fruity (overripe yellow pears, some tropical fruits notes), vanilla, jelly bears, menthol, a hint of oak on the background. Water opens up fruit caramel notes and a hint of fusel oil

Palate

Sweet, immediately bitterish, alcohol, spicy (mix of peppers), berry soda, strong fusel oils, vanilla butterscotch, later comes bitter oak

Finish

Short, bitter, with alcohol feeling, some nutty notes, drying oak at the end

Conclusion

A good example of whisky I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. It starts with misleadingly pleasant sweet and perfumery nose, which is, however, openly young. But the palate is a complete failure. Strong alcoholic and bitter taste with a lot of fusel oils. So it rather tastes like a new make but not really a whisky. The finish is a continuation of the palate: short, spirituous, bitter, monotone. I’m not that familiar with mizunara profile but I really cannot find here something unusual, which differs from traditionally matured malts. And finally the last but not least - this whisky’s price. How much? Starting from over one hundred bucks?! The world of whiskies is really going mad nowadays, especially regarding Japanese products.
