Nose
Sweet, very gently smoky, vivid syrup notes (which remind rum quite a lot), dried apricots and sultanas, plenty of vanilla, some lemon juice and overripe banana notes, light minerality, a hint of farmyard. Water amplifies sugar and minerality.
Palate
Gently sweet, smoky, punchy and peppery, mineral with chalky notes, quite strong industrial notes, later comes salty feeling
Finish
Pleasantly sweet, tad smoky with old leather notes, cold birch ashes, a hint of raw mushrooms
Conclusion
Beautiful whisky, surprisingly complex for 8 yo expression. Very sweet and rum-like on the nose, it’s totally the opposite on its palate: minerally and industrial. The smokiness is really gentle here unlike in regular Talisker releases. Being eally expensive as for the age, however, this bottling definitely worth tasting
