Braeval (Braes of Glenlivet) 16 year old 1997/2014 cask 10280 - Douglas Laing
Review by Douglas Laing
- Nose
The nose opens with a surprising strawberry sweetie style, with spicy toffee and sweet grist.
- Palate
The palate is still sweet, attractively spiced with creamy butterscotch and milk chocolate.
- Finish
A long finish, now running drier with warming spices and a dried fruit cake character.
- Note
-
Douglas Laing's "Old Particular" is a particularly unique series of individually hand-selected aged Single Cask Malts' and Single Cask Single Grains from all over Scotland. Each is bottled exactly the way the distiller intended: Without colouring, or chill-filtration. This expression from the Braeval distillery, was distilled in 1997 and bottled after 16 long years spent maturing in a refill Hogshead. It is one of only 193 bottles produced.
