Glenfiddich 19 year old Age of Discovery Madeira Cask Finish
Review by Glenfiddich
- Nose
A deep earthy aroma of sweet ripe figs and orange marmalade form a backdrop to bright notes of fresh gooseberries and grapes ripening on the vine.
- Palate
Rich and spicy, cinnamon and crushed black pepper rest on a base of deep earthy notes, caramelised fruits, crystallised ginger, raisins and hints of dry oak. The texture is satisfying, silky smooth - almost oily.
- Finish
Pleasingly dry with warmth that fades into a lingering sweet marmalade finish.
- Conclusion
Rich and delicious, 19 year old Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Madeira Cask Finish has aromas of ripe fig, caramelised fruit and spicy notes of cinnamon and black pepper.

Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Madeira Cask Finish celebrates the pioneering spirit of Portuguese explorers in the 15th Century. A 19 year old Glenfiddich Single Malt, it has been finished in oak casks previously used to age fine Madeira wine.
Pioneering the sea routes from Europe to Thailand and Malaysia in search for the sea passage to India, Portuguese explorers established the city of Macao, in China, gave Taiwan the name Ilha Formosa (Beautiful Island) and discovered the islands of Porto Santo and Madeira, revolutionising our understanding of the world.
Glenfiddich Malt Master, Brian Kinsman commented: “The drive and spirit of these explorers has stayed with us across centuries and we are delighted to be launching a range of whiskies which celebrate and remember the Age of Discovery.
At Glenfiddich, we pride ourselves in offering a range of pioneering single malts, so it’s truly wonderful to release Glenfiddich ‘Age of Discovery’ Madeira Cask Finish, which is the first time Glenfiddich has used Madeira casks to finish a whisky, and celebrates the pioneering spirit we share with such intrepid explorers.”
