-
Rich and beautifully balanced, deep and aromatic, and infused with a sophisticated sweetness this exceptional whisky is the product of just 5 refill casks originally laid down before 1979. These casks were brought together in 2008 and filled into first-fill sherry seasoned American oak casks to intensify flavour over a further ten years of maturation.
Orkneys surprisingly mild climate, combined with our commitment to using only the finest quality casks, allows us to age our whisky for longer than many other distilleries, losing less to the Angels Share and consistently producing mature whisky of exceptional quality and character. The refill casks that originally held this whisky are ideal for a long, slow maturation as their subtle oaky flavour doesnt dominate while the first-fill sherry seasoned casks in which the whisky completed its maturation added both a depth of character and rich layers of nutty and fruit-laden notes of sherry to the whiskys final flavour.
A rich thread of continuity runs through each release of Highland Park 40 YEAR OLD and marrying such outstanding casks together created this classic expression of Highland Park rich, deep and beautifully balanced
