Highland Park Ambassador Cask 3 number 9035
Review by Highland Park
- Colour
Bright gold
- Nose
Dark chocolate nose, orange peel and toasted smoky almonds. Then, the dark fruits arrive, fig first, slowly revealing a plum jam flavour.
- Palate
Tingles the sides of the tongue hinting at a citrus note within. Candied lime and liquorice with a nutty fudge flavour developing.
- Finish
Clean finish with dried fruits and the signature dry smokiness of Highland Park.
- Note
-
The first two Ambassador Casks sold out very quickly in 2006; as a result, Highland Park released a third, chosen by Gerry Tosh, in November 2007.
Gerry likes the finer whiskies in life but, as with most people, sometimes finds it too expensive to buy a 30 year old. That is why Ambassadors Cask 3 moved to a smaller bottle (35cl) so that more people can have the opportunity to taste this special 33 year old single cask at cask strength of 44.8% abv.
Cask #9035 (from 1974) was one of five initially under consideration before finally being selected. Gerry picked this cask for its big chocolate nose and the lingering aftertaste of dried fruits.
