Nose
Light fusel oil notes at the beginning, fresh, sweet, malty, flowery (pink peony and hints of rose petals), fruity (yellow pears, pear acid drops), sultanas, vanilla, honey notes, caramelized lemon zest
Palate
Slightly sweet, punchy, spicy (pepper mix), malty, fruity notes (peach, baked apple), orange zest, oak
Finish
Medium-long, rather dry, malty and sweet (berry marmalade), sweet liquorice, nuts (walnuts, almonds), herbs, oaky tannins
Conclusion
Interesting whisky with a beautiful and fairly complex nose on the flowery and fruity side. However the palate is quite punchy and rather rough (comparing to nose) with kaleidoscope of spices, which continue in the aftertaste. Obviously those spices come from different types of cask. Overall pleasant and very “summer” expression form Aberlour, which is reasonably priced in addition.
