Nose
Vibrant, fresh, gently smoky, fruity (figs, clementines, raisins and apricots), coastal feeling: light minerality, brine, kelp. Water opens up sweet caramelly notes, tropical fruitiness (lychees, bananas) and some tarry motives
Palate
Sweet, oily, spicy (mostly black pepper, cloves), liquorice, dark roast coffee, dried dark fruits (raisins, prunes), caramel, cold ashes, smoked herring, herbal notes at the end
Finish
Long, juicy, with berries marmalade motives, cold wood ashes, disappearing smoke, sweet oranges, eucalyptus notes, soft oaky touch at the end
Conclusion
Excellent whisky, sherry has done very good work here. Superbly balanced and very tasty, this expression shows the best peculiarities of Ardbeg. Being insanely priced, this spirit is really worth at least tasting.
