Nose
Sherry (dried fruits - raisins, dates, prunes), cinnamon and nutmeg, orange zest, burnt caramel, chocolaty and leathery notes, wood. Water opens fruitiness in a form of plums and overripe pears, honey notes appear too.
Palate
Peppery, medium-sweet, with rather sharp alcohol kick, again nutmeg, dark chocolate, liquorice, blueberry pie, quite vivid oak.
Finish
Medium-long, softly woody, walnut shells, old leather, herbs.
Conclusion
Decent whisky, pleasantly sherried and with a good balance. It doesn’t have a great complexity and shows rather typical sherry-matured character but it’s totally good as for 10 yo expression. The only problem is that alcohol integrated very poorly. Even diluted to about 43-45% it still has a very sharp alcohol punch. Otherwise it’s a good buy for the asked price.
