Nose
Fresh, sweet, white wine notes, vanilla, yellow apples, butterscotch, a hint of wet chalk, light malty motives, tangerine, very light background smoke and some woody notes
Palate
Medium-sweet, slightly spicy (ginger), tad minerally (wet stones, chalk), blackberry jam, apple pie, caramelized lemon zest, gentle smokiness and light oaky notes
Finish
Medium-long, slightly sweet, slowly getting dry, with some berries jam notes (black currants?), light maltiness and a hint of smoke on the background
Conclusion
Very nice Highland park - with all HP family traits but with quite unusual profile due to Rioja casks. The nose is clearly (but not too much) winy, palate is balanced and tasty. It’s supposed to be a successor of the Full Volume but I liked this expression even more despite one missing year. The price is not cheap but seems to be OK for a whisky of this quality.
