Sam Houston 12 year old 2018 Release No. 1
Review by Sam Houston
- Colour
Rich amber color throughout
- Nose
Sweet caramel notes fade nicely into mild corn and vanilla with faint aromas of dried fruit.
- Palate
A woody oak char is balanced nicely with light impressions of orange peel, tobacco and a smokey vanilla. Hints of molasses and pepper are subtle markers rounding out the traditional bourbon tastes.
- Finish
A low, mellowed oaky finish coats the mouth. A faint warmth presents and gives way to a satisfying combination of toasted oats and clean maple sensations.
- Note
-
The first ever batches of Sam Houston 12 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey were crafted from a rare, premium bourbon reserve. Barrels were chosen in regards to taste, boldness and traditional high-rye mash bill standards. Extremely small batches were crafted for Texas and Tennessee using only 3 barrels per state. Each bottle is individually hand-labeled with specific aging notes and numbered.
