Ardbeg Ar2 - Elements of Islay
Review by Elements of Islay
- Nose
Enticing and crystal clear, showing hot spices and menthol alongside coal-smoke phenols. Some faint bramble fruit slowly develops. Water brings forward cereal and toasty notes.
- Palate
Powerful. Hot and peppery again, with distinctive chilli heat at the front of the tongue. Some honey as well. Youthful leafiness, and very exuberant.
- Finish
Lengthy. Massive. Warming and still very peppery. Water seems not to diminish its power.
- Note
-
Even bigger than Ar1, this is a peaty powerhouse loaded with flavour and character. The perfect marriage of ex-bourbon hogsheads with southern Islay spirit.
