Bunnahabhain Bn5 - Elements of Islay
Review by Elements of Islay
- Nose
Thick and oily, with rich smoky notes hiding layers of fruit.
- Palate
Ashy to start, with barrel char, oil and peat smoke. Water reveals the whisky’s true depth, showing yellow fruit and softening the peat.
- Finish
Long and smoky.
- Note
-
Harking back to the beginning of the series, Bn5 returns to Bn1’s atypically smoky character. Big, rich and ashy, it takes no prisoners on the first sip. However, a drop of water tames the beast and shows more of the distillery’s traditionally fruity character.
