his limited edition release of only 300 bottles commemorates the role that KING CHRISTIAN 1 of Denmark played in the Orkney Islands becoming part of Scotland in 1468. A clever and cosmopolitan ruler, he united Denmark, Norway and Sweden during his reign, a kingdom that then included Orkney.
Matured in a combination of refill butts and hogsheads of exceptional age and character, this whisky, like its namesake king, is the embodiment of unity. Marrying honey sweetness with tropical notes and heady spices, encased in the softest smoke, each layer of flavour retains its distinctive character yet works in perfect harmony. Presented in a clear, crystal, teardrop-shaped decanter, inspired by Nordic glassware and cradled in an exquisite silver spiral, this limited edition is sealed with a silver stopper carrying the marquetry of the Viking warrior. The bottle is packed in a polished black lacquer box and accompanied by a book relating the story of KING CHRISTIANS reign and showcasing Highland Parks Viking roots.
The Warrior Series is a collection of single malts created exclusively for Duty Free to showcase the very best of Highland Park. Each expression both introduces a key figure from Orkneys Viking history and demonstrates how the flavours of Highland Park are influenced by cask type.
