Mortlach 16 year old Distiller's Dram
Review by Mortlach
- Nose
Rich and deep. It is slightly shy initially, but with a sense of massed weight. Stewed black and orchard fruits with an immediate earthy note and some spice. It gets progressively darker and richer balanced by the sweetness.
- Palate
Robust and full body. Palate coating.Opens with a sweet, dry baking spice character with cinnamon, allspice and cacao powder. This moves into a mid-palate of overripe banana and a rich butterscotch with hints of Jasmine tea and Acacia Honey.
- Finish
Surprisingly, it sweetens again. Long, complex and meaty. Now you also get the Syrah-like sootiness.
