Rosebank 20 year old 1979/1999 - Diageo Rare Malts
Review by Diageo Rare Malts
- Nose
Camomile. Daisies. Buttercups. Nose-warming; light overall. Some fresh fruit (melon?) and wine notes, with a whiff of charred newspaper in the background - even a suggestion of dentist's mouthwash. With water, the smoky notes come forward.
- Palate
Smoothly malty, with soft, creamy, sponge finger flavours. The overall impression is yet fresh, crisp and acidic - so appetising, it literally sets the juices running!
- Finish
A short finish with a slight sweetness that soon dries pleasantly. Hints of burnt and icing sugars, then a lemony, herbal spicy, dryness. The light aftertaste is clean and fresh.
- Note
-
Green gold in colour. As fresh as a Granny Smith apple. Soft and beautifully rounded in body. An excellent apéritif. Fragrant, subtle, delicate and yet complex, this is a beautiful whisky.
