Caol Ila 2010/2017 Feis Ile - Douglas Laing
Review by Douglas Laing
- Nose
Opens with a mighty maritime Islay punch – salty spices and sweet smoke
- Palate
Initially sweet with peated, malted barley – developing an earthy richness with smoked bacon and burnt straw
- Finish
Lusciously long with charred oak, dark toffee and more of that smoked peat character
- Note

We are delighted to present our Provenance Caol Ila 6 Years Old; a special Limited Edition commemorative bottling of Provenance Single Malt Scotch Whisky for Feis Ile 2017; the annual festival of Malt and Music held on the beautiful Island of Islay.
Douglas Laing’s Provenance Single Malts are bottled exactly as the distiller intended – without colouring and without chill filtration, so that the naturally present oils, fats and enzymes in the Whisky are allowed to make their own special contribution to the nose, mouthfeel, palate and finish.
This particular expression from the Caol Ila Distillery on Islay has spent 6 years maturing in a Refill Hogshead.
