Rich, vibrant and extremely well balanced. Fruit cake with raisins, cherry and a hint of almond, fruity sherry notes with a touch of caramel, faint spicy smokiness, with hints of black tea.
Wonderfully long strong feel, chocolate, mango, marzipan and cloves are discovered as the spirit opens up
Smooth, long and lingering, mouth-watering, spicy with a rich plum aftertaste.
Celebrating Orkney’s Scandinavian heritage, this latest Vintage offers a distinctly Highland Park flavour profile from its maturation in Spanish oak, leading to the classic characteristics of dried fruits, caramel and chocolate,
The fourth release of the series, the 1971 Vintage has been created from seventeen casks, specifically chosen by our talented whisky maker, Max McFarlane, for their exceptional character. Coupled with this long-term maturation, the perfect balance has been achieved in its 657 bottles.
According to Max; “The casks used to create this vintage have allowed the quality and delicate fragrance of the original new make spirit to shine through without being dominated by the wood notes.”
The box illustration for this 1971 Vintage celebrates Orkney’s Scandinavian heritage, inspired specifically by a carving in the Ringerike style on an 11th century weathervane.
